Last week I had the opportunity to speak in downtown Maputo, Mozambique. There is a weekly youth outreach called Som Do Ceu with about 600 young people. It was an incredible thing to be a part of. I have dj’d the event twice now but this was my first time speaking there. Man it is so cool how God grants you the desires of your heart. I love sharing God’s word and he is always giving me places to do it!

The cool part about this place is that it’s in Maputo…and that place is crazy! And right in the middle of this crazy place is 600 youth worshiping God like there mad!!! They get it there…our God deserves ALL OF OUR LIVES! Not just a day or two.

Check it out!

“You can only bring the people as far as you yourself have come. God I pray that you grow me so that I may not hinder the growth of my flock.”

Well, Lets just begin this post by stating this obvious yet over looked truth. GOD IS INCREDIBLE. The process of God trying to use me looks kinda like this… Trying to fly a plane without wings. It’s just not possible… Yet I have found this truth in God; the more impossible a task or the more lacking the vessel the better; because there is no doubt that God was the ingredient that made “THE IMPOSSIBLE”… possible.

So, all that said here we are. We have just come through our first month of 412 and it is so powerful to be a part of. Four.One.Two is our new youth group based out of the HPC church plant here in Mbabane, Swaziland. We are reaching mostly young people from the Mbabane area though we are reaching outside our city as well. We have grown to about 120 and continue to grow weekly. Our services are Friday nights, bible study’s for student leadership on Thursdays and regular serve events in the community. It has been such a blessing to see how much identity and since of ownership has developed in just the short time we have been rocking. This isn’t a place of entertainment but an entertaining place whereby young people are growing.

We use a club like atmosphere to draw young people using lights, music, dj’s and a high-energy show; mixed with real and in your face truth about God’s word. The young people of Swaziland are so passionate about life even though the face so much hardship. We want to take that passion and get them working for God. We play hard, Worship hard, bring the truth hard…but we serve and we love more then everything else!

God has truly been so incredible throughout my ministry here in Swaziland. I have such a big heart towards pasturing young people whether through 412, or care point youth or the internship program; It is always awesome when God uses me.

So for all of you back @ home; Oasis is ROCKING it in Swaziland. Both the Fonteyn and Mangwaneni Care Points are doing great and growing. I know Sandra has been blogging about the new class room being finished up over at Mangwaneni, it is going to be an awesome addition to that community.

Last week I was helping to host an american team and was able to lead them on a community walk in Fonteyn. It is so humbling to walk around this place and see how they live. I live in the same town and go around all the time; but it never becomes easier to receive. We actually visited Boy Boy’s house… ( Jill’s Buddy) and we got to see his place and meet his gogo that takes care of him. I think that the american team clearly understood why the OC has stepped in to this troubled community and were very impressed by the way it is ran.

I have been spending alot of time with a young man from the community named Sandila. He is one of the youth from the Fonteyn care point and is about 14. He is pretty close to us at the single guy house and walks over to hang with us alot. He goes to church with us on sundays and is now playing with the church soccer team. He is having a pretty tuff time at home as are so many of the fonteyn and Mangwaneni young people. He lives with his mom, though she is very little around; and her moms boyfriend. I think he may be abused in the middle of this situation but we are working on learning more. Sandila receives most of his food through the feeding program at fonteyn so we are very thankful for all of you at the OC.

I just want to leave you with this… What you all are doing through your giving is beyond incredible. All of us as the Oasis Church are literly REACHING in to a hurting city, REFRESHING the people with food and truth and RESTORING a community with life and life more abundant.

So for those of you who don’t know, part of what I do in Africa is simple tied up to living in my own home. My roommate Patrick Conti and I, live with and train African Interns, in the areas of Christian life, leadership, youth ministry and administration. This is Patrick’s program but I am able to work alongside him in this endeavor being a member of the, “Single Guy House.” My time in Africa wouldn’t be the same without these guys; they have become my brothers and have taught me so much about the Swazi Life… It is a very powerful and necessary part of life, to know other men who are proud of God and aren’t afraid to show it. We work together in ministry, life, growing in God’s word and three of us are part of the worship team together! So please keep in your prayers. Patrick, Lelo, Karl and Daniel…

Pat (in my shirt) Karl (in my jacket) I guess thats just the price you pay! lol

Recently Patrick, the interns and had the opportunity to serve Pastor Isaac and our Children’s Cup Mozambique Care Point. It was an incredible time of ministry and served as a mission trip to our Swazi Interns; this was one of only two trips out of Swaziland for the boy’s. We served Pastor Isaac and his HPC church plant in Maputo, by cleaning, doing community visits, ministering to the worship team and youth and even hunting down a very elusive RAT! We got him… All together this trip was an awesome opportunity, not only to branch borders with God’s love, but simple to grow closer with the boys!

Last weekend the Youth Team and I had our annual Sports Day Blowout. This is huge in African youth ministry because these kids live to play. It was an extremely successful day drawing in around 300 young people! Basically, we rented out a sports field in the middle of the city of Manzini, brought all of our youth group students from the care points, and threw down in soccer and chair-ball. We also packed the main stage with speakers and I deejay’d the event. We had dance competitions and played music so loud you could hear it throughout the city. Also, seeing as we had all of our care points in one place, we had them perform there group dances and dramas – this I their favorite thing to do! Lol

It continues to amaze me to see their passion. This young people have nothing! Most of them wear the same clothes everyday, barely eat and can’t even afford to go to school. 45% of the children are orphans and majority of them are sexually abused. Everything in the world tells them to loose hope…Yet these young people, smile bigger, play harder, hug bigger and have more fun with life then I have ever scene. Their smiles produce so much truth in to Gods heart that it can bring you to your knees.

Hello world…It’s been a little while since my last blog… ok a long while. This is truly the hardest part of being a missionary (Communication). I know how important it is though, so I am pushing myself to become disciplined. I will always be transparent with you who support me, this I promise. I know that Some of us God calls to serve on the field and others he calls to serve through finances, prayer and support; and I thank God daily for those of you called to join me in these areas; without you I would be unable to allow God to use me here.

Lately I have been struggling in finances and support. I know that God will take care of me as I follow His call on my life, though I think I can do better on my part. You will see a drastic change in my level of communication so those of you joining me know what is happening. The life of a missionary can be very lonely even if surrounded by others. I am away from home and away from my family, but I always feel your prayers and no matter where I am at spiritually or emotionally; yours prayers and support bring me to my feet. God has been using me in big ways and it is because of you.

I want to build a team that I know by name so that we can lift each other up in prayer. So if you would like to join my prayer team please email me or comment this blog. I would love to have 100 people sign up. I would also like to add anyone and everyone to my mailing list so that you can receive my newsletter updates and pictures/videos. Please I know I make it easy sometimes, but don’t forget me! I love you all.

Financial Team needs:

$2000 / monthly – Food, Rent, Fuel, Utilities, Phone, Monthly expenses and Personal Ministry Fund.

This can be achieved by one time gifts or by:

                        -20 Monthly Team members @ $100/monthly

                        -10 Monthly Team members @ $200/monthly

                        -40 @ $50/monthly

I still need to raise $8000 to end this year so please pray about this with me.

Prayer Team Needs:

I need my team to be in prayer for a couple specific topics.

                        – Youth Ministry

                                    1. Weekly youth services @ Care points

                                                Wednesday’s – Modonsa(30) Monenie(20)

                                                Friday’s – Makholwenie(35-40) Ngawnie Park(30)

                                    Saturday’s- Logoba(40) Zombodze(30)

                        2. We have so many students unable to cover their school fees. School is not free in Swaziland so a huge part of our ministry to students here is to be creative in finding ways to get them covered.

                        3. I will be starting a New Youth Group out of the HPC church plant in the weeks to come. This will reach to young people in Mbabane, and also the OASIS@ Swaziland care points. This is going to be @ 6pm on Friday nights. We are currently trying to raise a budget for that program.

                        4. On the 26th of this month, I will be hosting a HUGE outreach/street party. We are expecting about 2000 young people so that one def. needs prayer!

Intern Training- (another part of what I do is live in a house with African Interns, training them and working side by side with them in order to lead by example. We do everything together, showing them how a godly man lives life and allowing them to learn youth ministry. I work along side Patrick and our heart is that we raise up Swazi’s to change their own country.)

1.     Please be in prayer for them

a.     Daniel

b.     Lelo

c.     Karl

2.     They are now breaking up in to specific jobs so pray that goes well. Daniel is working on the Children’s Cup Administration side.  Lelo is working on Youth Ministry doing community visits and leg work with school fees and government schools. And Karl is my main man working with me specifically in the Mbabane area and the church plant. We are working in the schools that our OASIS@SWAZILAND students attend and planning youth Outreaches.

Also please prayer for favor as we are doing weekly ministry in the Government schools now. Karl and I attend Sifundzani Highschool and St. Marks Highschool on thusday’s. And Pat, Lelo and Daniel Attend 2 Manzini schools.

Thank You all…Live Hard, Love God
